Accounting Packages

I have been evaluating accounting packages for a client. Solomon IV has risen to the top for a number of reasons. Cost, scalability, integration. I have several questions.

1. Has anyone implemented Solomon? What was your experience.
2. Has anyone decided against Solomon? What were the reasons. What did you decide on?

Thanks!

A client where I am currently engaged is in the process of evaluating whether to replace Solomon IV 2.0.6/4.2.1with something more reliable and scalable. The biggest issues from an admin perspective are 1) batch release problems and 2) corrupted data, mainly related to incorrect dates. They run 16 independent installations and a couple of test servers.

Also, at previous firm I was responsible for Solomon IV from a dba/technical perspective. That company had made a decision to replace Solomon IV 2.0.6 about the time I left. They had 2 installations, one of which rolled up data to a custom built enterprise financial application. The biggest Solomon issue there was also batch release problems.

At both sites, SQL statements had to be manually performed agains the database to fix the batch release problems.

I've heard that Great Plains still plans to market Solomon even though Solomon was acquired because it is/was one of Great Plains biggest competive competitors.

I may be looking for trouble by asking this: I'm wondering if anyone has tried to use MSP as a legitimate project accounting tool.
I am a PM consultant and I am coming face to face with a huge project and my customer would like to see some reasonable number tracking. How has project performed for you? Is it worthwhile to take the time to put the numbers into Project? Thanks, in advance.
