Leadership is a subjective topic, there are books, TED talks, articles, courses and webinars in the road to becoming a great leader.

By experience what are your core beliefs or the baseline that make you a great leader as as Project Manager and as a role model.

A great leader -

Respects others.
Listens.
Takes and holds others accountable.
Is a motivator.
Asks questions to be clear on expectations of self and others.
Shows leadership through character, not authority.
A mentor or role model - leading by example.

I've had a lot of examples of leadership in military and industry settings. The USAR basically defines leadership as getting others to do what they don't want to do. I've had the most success with that in my military and professional leadership roles by knowing my teams, understanding their issues which are inhibiting them, honestly helping them with those issues, and clearing any roadblocks for them as they come up all with mutual respect and integrity (which ensures even-handed fairness).

The key point to understand is: you do not must being a leader for being project manager. Is like when you practice an sport. Just in case you are interested into leadership then take a look to leadership style because just in case you have to practice one it will depends on the culture the organization where you are working on have implemented. Go to the basement which is inside the philosophy field.
