Agile methodology getting abused by industry!

Many companies lack the knowledge and expertise of planning any kind of waterfall (predictive) project. These companies will try to call for Agile while it is clear scope and clear waterfall method to be applied here.

They abuse of Agile concept just because they think that they can plan "as we go" in reaction to events. let's run and execute now, we do not have time to plan. We can do it Agile!... They all suffer from sever over budget and behind schedule later one but will never admit the reason.
what are your thoughts about it?

I cover a lot of these myths in some of my agile courses. Agile is not an answer for no planning, unrealistic expectations, a lack of individual or team discipline or many other evils.

Unfortunately, some companies have chosen to throw the agile baby out with the bathwater because of early failures resulting from doing agile vs. embracing agile.

I agree with Sergio. Sounds like a lack of understanding of Agile. One of my bosses kept saying we do Agile. I asked what method she thought we were using. She said Extreme programming. I responded that just because we were programming quickly that does not mean we using XP or we were Agile.
Alot of companies want to jump on the Agile train but really do not understand what that actually means.
From 1995 up to date I bring the bread to my table helping organizations to implement Agile at the level where it was born: enterprise level. Each time a company hired me to do that I spend time at the very beginning helping the same people that hired me to understand that Agile is not what they thing it is. Agile is not "deliver products faster", Agile is not "cut costs", Agile is not "put changes when we want", Agile is not "use a method or life cycle", etc, etc. I prefer that they say to me "we will not continue working with you" instead to be fired short time after. Some of the companies that said me that return to me to hire me to fix the mess that the intentions for using Agile did.

I know that where I work they are not quite ready to go Agile. We have new management now so we may be able to move in that direction in the future. Our new people actually understand what Agile is.
Will so what the future brings.

In today days, if you do not use the work Agile with anything you said (including cars models) you are considered bad, ugly, dirty and in my case out of fashion too. I am resisting that close to Clint Eastwood way..
