I tried to put it in order (Top to Bottom)

1. Communication skills (top of the top always)
2. Listening skills (separate to communication to emphasise importance)
3. Problem-solving skills
4. Initiative and proactiveness
5. Flexibility
6. Professionalism & Empathy at the same time ( good balance is a must here)

The list can go on and on

I love these lists, because I always get to throw in: Emotional Intelligence. Even newbies need a little EI to handle customers.

When you are tainned on that field you will find that is one of the process inside Sales Process Engineering. It will impact on the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization. To put all of this in some references you can consult there are some standards on the field: ISO 9004:2000, ISO 10001:2007, ISO 10002:2004, ISO 10003:2007, ISO 10004:2012, and ISO/IEC 20000:2005.which is mainly related to IT service management.
