It has been suggested that I do a thesis on Global Project Management, but am unsure if I can find enough information to substantiate reporting on this topic and how I could support whatever claim I make.
Would someone give me some feedback regarding this topic, or suggest something else in regard to Project Mgmt.?
I did not anticipate having to research my thesis this semester and feel caught in a lurch.
"Global Project Management" is a very vague and broad topic. Do you mean project management practices within a global organization, or on projects with scope or resources in multiple countries, or are you interested in looking at how project management practices differ in different parts of the world? I'm sure there are many potential thesis topics here. I don't think your problem will be getting enough information, it will be in narrowing down your topic enough. Saving Changes...

Thank you for your prompt response, Mr. Anderson. I was thinking of writing my thesis on projects with scope and resources in multiple countries. Perhaps, I could research different scenarios utilizing Offshoring, Offshore Outsourcing, etc., however; I still do not have a clear focus and would appreciate any direction that you, or others, could give me.

That sounds like a good topic. Perhaps you could focus on identifying ways that projects involving offshoring differ from those that don't and look at what project management tools and techniques can help make projects involving an offshore component successful. Perhaps you could focus it around some of the key areas of project management, such scope management, cost management, risk management etc. For example, with regard to risk management, are there particular types of risk that tend to be greater for offshore projects, and if so, what PM techiques can be used to address them.
Also, I would tend to think offshoring projects present unique challenges around human resource management due to time differences, culture/language differences etc. It might not seem like a big deal, but one thing I've found really challenging about projects with resources in multiple countries is dealing with time zones - ever try scheduling a conference call between San Francisco, Brussels and Singapore?

There are many challenges with projects that span the world not the least is time zones, but also how to build your virtual team? How do they go about the forming/storming/normiong/performing cycle if they never talk to each other due to time differences, never see each other?
There can be some advantages as depending on how you structure your work you can have a 24hr project schedule! Saving Changes...
