There is no more Project Stakeholder Management Plan but Project Stakeholder Engagement Plan...

But there still is Project Stakeholder Management, I would have called the area name: Project Stakeholder Engagement Management or simple Project Stakeholder Engagement

George, engagement is just a better way to describe the interaction with stakeholders. Many are senior, and the idea of being "managed" doesn't sit well with some, not to mention the fact that there is no real way to manage stakeholders in the traditional sense. You can't really tell them what to do, so engagement (informing, reporting, influencing, negotiating, communicating, listening etc) is a better term.

George I agree with Sante point many senior would not like the word of managed but engagement is more acceptable

Sante / Riyadh - I also agree with you both, but the post was referring to something else.

The change is good, but there is a gap in the KA name and the Processes Names... A simple comment...

The engaging idea includes sharing decision making and making sure that stakeholders are part of it and not only receivers or people to manage.

Let them be part of the change

George -

Interesting bit of trivia - when the Sixth Edition draft was out for review, I was one of the reviewers and when it came to this knowledge area I suggested they rename the overall knowledge area to Project Stakeholder Engagement to be consistent given their move to shift the process names from Management to Engagement.

They rejected that suggestion :-)

I understand this gap this way: Project Stakeholder Management includes several activities performed by a project team. Among of them identification of stakeholders, identifications their expectations and impact, developing strategies for successful interacting with them. Stakeholder Engagement is the process that ensures implementing the developed engagement strategies. Thus Project Stakeholder Management more than only engagement.
