What are your best tips for a New Project Manager?

These are all good replies so far! :-)

The top three that come to mind (some repeats of the above):
- Definitely flexibility in terms of adapting to changing conditions and better information
- Yes, remember it's people you are working with, but at the same time often those people need deadlines...
- Delegation (or another variation on this - let professionals have the freedom to do productive things in their own way where possible - or at least consider other ways)

Bonus point:
- If you need something done, or agreement on some point, if you can find a way for the other person to think it's their idea, you'll get the strongest support. This may involve keeping quiet when you want to say "but that's what I suggested a week ago". :-)

1) Good Communication - A clear and concise communication is must.
2) Observation - Start observing team and relevant stakeholder. This will help you in knowing many conflicts beforehand.
3) Subject Matter Expert - Try to be SME so that no one can fool you with false excuses.
