Kevin good points you have
Eye contact, hand gestures, and tone all color the message choose the right word instead of saying make sure use please ensure, avoid BUT use however set the tone
Empathy and friendliness
Talk with confidence so the listener see that you strongly believe of what you say
Use positive word avoid negative word like saying DON'T DO THAT
Treat with respect
choose simple words avoid PH.D words you are not discussing your academic theses
Be selective of the right time and right place
Maintain control set ground rules who want to talk rise hand and wait for permission
Provide realistic reasonable example to back up your speech
Have full awareness of the topic and be prepared for weird questions / stay calm and control panic
Be open and encourage feedback
I like to hit post before I delete again I just remembered these for now

These days I find the most important thing is mindfulness of your focus. There is nothing as powerful as a conversation when both participants are 100% focused on what each other is saying and are not distracted by their smartphones, random thoughts or other impediments...

Actually is a little principle used in diplomacy by the acronym: KISS.
Keep It Short and Simple. :) and offer a little smile, even once in a while
