I am moving from a software development PM role to a web based PM role. I am wondering if there are any references that people could point me towards that will aid this transition.

I have identified the following book as a starter - has anyone read it or can reccommend other books focused on web based project management?

'Managing Interactive Media: Project Management for Web and Digital Media - Elaine England; Paperback

Many thanks!

Dear Matthew,

I am assuming you mean management of web projects as opposed to project management via the web. You might have a look at, "Web Project Management: Delivering Successful Commercial Web Sites", by Ashley Friedlein. The author breaks web site construction into the following four phases:

  1. Pre-production
(Project Clarification, Solution Definition, Project Specification)

  2. Production
(Content, Design and Construction, Testing, Launch and Handover)

  3. Maintenance

  4. Evaluation

Typically, web project management books provide a methodology for web development along with examples and case studies, but you might find the "project management" content to be a bit light. Cheers.
