Does anyone feel the pace of technology driven change is too fast already and its accelerating?

I just saw a report about how fast technology is changing business. What was more troubling was at the end they said the pace was picking up. Is it even possible to keep up? Saving Changes...
Accelerating? Yes. Too fast? No. That's the point of technology and innovation. In the future, only AI robots will be able to keep up with the exponential pace.

It is possible to keep up with technology and I would think an R&D department would be on top of this. I believe a lot of businesses struggle to do the basics. Keep your systems patched and your data backed up. Saving Changes...
On it's book "The Fourth Industrial Revolution" by Klaus Schwab [Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum] (Great read by the way); he explains this very point "Velocity: Contrary to previous industrial revolutions, this one is evolving at an exponential rate ratherthan linear pace. This is the resultof the multifaceted, deeply interconnected world we live in and the fact that new technology begets newer and ever more capable technology". The real challenge of this change is not only keep up with it but to raise awareness across all sectors of society, this require collaborative and flexible structures that reflect the integration across ecosistems and take fully into account all stakeholders; bring together public and private sectors; restructuring our economic, social and political systems to take full advantage of the oportunities presented and shape our future in a way that benefits all. I'm an optimist so I buy into Thomas Friedman's stance in his latest (?) book Thank You for Being Late. He does a great job of tackling the accelerating pace of change relative to our ability to absorb the changes.

The cross interactivity of many of these emerging technologies make it nearly impossible and impractical to keep up with all that is going on. One organization would need to track 9 specific technologies continuously if they were to keep up. They outsourced this activity and receive quarterly briefings along with monthly summaries along with critical breaking news summaries as their way to address this critical issue. Saving Changes...

Technology is not changing business. Technology is changing the way that business is performed which is not the same. That is because if organizations do not understand that and think that everything is about technology use then they fail. Is about enterprise architecture not about technology. Saving Changes...
