It appears the technical talent shortage is getting worse! Has anyone else experienced this?

Since January, it seem that finding technical resources has become much more difficult. Has anyone else experienced this?

In my area, what I have noticed is that many of the job postings are very specific which may be keeping many applicants from applying.

Are you talking about permanent employees or contractors? Many organizations won't pay for contractors.

We have staggering unemployment level here in Australia, and most of the highly technical qualified Aussies are leaving the country.

We definitely have shortage in trades here in Canada which we consider technical in a way.

In my view, quite the opposite, actually.

The trend is that technology is becoming simpler to understand and apply. It is becoming more homogenous and integrated - so the amount of "wrong" or "soon-to-be obsolete" technologies are on the wane.

The result of this trend is that it is easier to find resources in related technologies and it is easier for these resources to scale up in any technologies.

General programming skills and most widely used technologies do not have a crunch f resources.
But if you are working on some specific domain or technology or looking for talent on some specific tool, then it could be difficult to find.
