I'd like to get your thoughts on some percentages. First, of the PMs working today, say out of the estimated 10.6 million in N. America, roughly, how many work in the field of IT and/or Computer Science? Then out of that number how many are contractors vs. FTEs? Thank you.

I don't have insights on the questions you've asked but where did you find the 10.6 million estimate for North America?

From this site. It's old but nothing else to go on. Just an approximation. https://www.projectmanagement.com/blog-pos...-US-and-Canada-

Very interesting question. I also have no insights on this, and wonder where you got the 10 mil no from.

Sounds like we need to launch a PM survey to get these answers.

So, if we can transpose the % that means approx. 2 million of the 10 million are contractors. Now how many are IT/CS PMs? Still looking.

NPR said in Jan 2018; "A new NPR/Marist poll finds that 1 in 5 jobs in America is held by a worker under contract. Within a decade, contractors and freelancers could make up half of the American workforce. Workers across all industries and at all professional levels will be touched by the movement toward independent work — one without the constraints, or benefits, of full-time employment."

That sounds like a lot, 10 million PM's in the US. Where is this data from?

10 m nearly half of the size of Australia population. I don't have insights and it will be worth it to take this subject further for study.
