From Attendee to Honoree: My 11-Year PMI Global Summit Journey

It was 11 years ago, in September 2013, when I first attended a PMI global event. Participating in the PMI Global Congress 2013 in New Orleans was a transformative experience, particularly the opportunity to meet thought leaders in project management from across the globe. Fast forward to 2024, not only did I attend Global Summit again, but I also had the honor of being both a speaker and an award recipient.

The journey toward the 2024 PMI Global Summit in Los Angeles began on April 1st, when I received confirmation that my presentation proposal had been selected for inclusion. I had no idea what surprises awaited me in Los Angeles. However, one thing was certain: I was eager to reconnect with old colleagues and friends and make new connections in the field.

A few months later in July, I received exciting news from PMI President and CEO Pierre Le Manh, informing me that I had been named the PMI Eric Jenett Person of the Year. This meant that I would not only be speaking, but also receiving this prestigious award in the presence of over 4,000 participants from around the world.
