How to Make the Most Out of IPM Day

International Project Management Day, which is celebrated on the first Thursday of November, is an important opportunity for organizations to recognize and showcase the contributions and value that project managers, project teams, and project management offices make to the organizations they serve.

However, for some, the significance of IPM Day is unclear or even unknown. So many PMs don’t take time to engage and learn from this day of celebrating the profession.

With that in mind, I thought it would be worth exploring why PM professionals and organizational leadership should carve out some time to give voice to this very special day.

For IPM Day to gain steam within the organization, it is up to leadership to make it happen. A rational and cogent case should be made to senior management as to why recognizing and supporting IPM Day has value to the organization. Project management leadership should not be surprised if senior management has no idea the day even exists, so the pitch needs to be on point and easy for them to digest.
