I read the news, and I know that this is the year artificial intelligence takes all our jobs. So, I talked to my ChatGPT to see what she thought of this. (We worked up this month’s piece together.)
I came away with some answers, and some ideas. Let’s look at this idea of losing our jobs to AI…
The Current State of AI in Project Management
AI is already making its presence felt in project management. Today, tools like Microsoft Project, Monday.com and Smartsheet integrate AI capabilities to automate mundane tasks such as scheduling, task allocation and progress tracking.
For instance, AI can help predict project risks by analyzing historical data, identifying potential bottlenecks, and even recommending adjustments to timelines or resources. These tools have freed up project managers from time-consuming administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on more complex, high-level decision-making.
Yet, AI’s influence on project management goes beyond automation. Machine learning and predictive analytics enhance how project managers track and evaluate performance. By 2025, AI will likely take on even more responsibilities, not just managing the “how” of a project, but also providing actionable insights to steer the “what” and “why.”
