Our PMO is struggling! Management wants us to have one, as many successful organizations swear by them. But the way they are usually structured just doesn’t fit into the way our company does business. I know agile doesn’t work if you don’t stay true to the actual bullet points and intentions of the process. Do PMOs all need to follow the same outline in order to be successful for the projects and project teams?
A. Just as those organizations who do not conform specifically to agile rules and regulations find that their agile processes do not reap successful and profitable projects, businesses cannot change any portion of the project methodology to fit an unorthodox industry need. Only by following detail by detail with the original outline of how teams work under agile can a project be successful and profitable.
B. With the addition of the Agile Alliance to the Project Management Institute, it becomes even more crucial to keep the agile processes intact and not intertwine them with the traditional approaches we have learned as project managers.
