Using Project Management as a Framework for Career Growth, Fulfillment and Impact
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering whether you’re on the right track professionally—or even what the track is—you’re not alone. I’ve been there, too. Early in my career, I was doing the work, building experience, and seizing opportunities—but I hadn’t yet formalized a system to assess progress, manage decisions, or align daily tasks with long-term goals.
Still, I found myself naturally applying many of the same principles we use in project management: setting objectives, managing time and resources, and learning from each milestone. It wasn’t until later—through formal education, training and certification—that I recognized those instincts for what they were: an early version of managing myself like a project.
That realization changed everything.
Like many of you, I learned on the job—working within teams, contributing to cross-functional efforts, and eventually leading key initiatives that were entrusted to me. Over time, I began to see patterns in what made those efforts successful.
That curiosity led me to pursue formal education in the field. I earned a Graduate Certificate in Project Management and a Master of Science in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, which helped me sharpen the skills I had developed in practice.
