Toward Projects That Make Sense—Today and Tomorrow
Every year, Earth Day invites us to pause and reflect on the future we are building with our projects. This year, that reflection feels more necessary than ever.
We are living through a period of profound instability, marked by crises, conflicts and growing uncertainty. In times like these, sustainability can easily slip into the background, overshadowed by more immediate pressures. But perhaps this is exactly when it matters most.
None of us started our journey in project management expecting to become advocates for sustainability. Over time, coming from different roles and experiences, we found ourselves converging—not only in perspective, but in the shared need to take a more active role in bringing sustainability into our projects and our community.
And yet, through our professional and volunteer experiences, one question kept resurfacing: Are the projects we deliver today creating value that will still make sense tomorrow?
This article is the story of how that question led us, the Sustainability Outreach Committees and Champions, to act—and why sustainability is becoming an essential part of how projects are conceived and delivered.
