Is AI Supplementing Your Skills…or Replacing Them?

I’m annoyed. (Some would argue that’s nothing new.)

But specifically, I’m annoyed about artificial intelligence. Not because it thinks that it can write better articles than me (well, not entirely), and not because everyone wants me to write about it these days (well, not entirely). No, I’m annoyed about AI because it seems to be causing people to completely forget everything that they knew before AI came along.

Here’s an easy example. Take a look at your LinkedIn feed. I’m betting at least half of the posts that include pictures are using AI-generated images. We all know what those look like; they’re easy to spot and they are now everywhere.

AI-generated text in posts is not always as easy to spot. But if half (or more) of the images are AI, do we really think that AI isn’t also generating a lot of the written content? In fact, studies suggest that LinkedIn is the most AI-saturated social media site, with a significant amount of content 100% AI generated.

If you are using AI in your project management work, I suspect that there is a similar scenario unfolding.

If AI is approved to assist in the generation of status reports, then a lot of those status reports are 100% AI. If it is being applied to risk identification, then many projects are going to have no identified risks that weren’t provided by AI. The …
