Semper Gumby!
Last night (Wednesday, Sept. 17th) I had to make one of those tough "fish or cut bait" decisions--based on incomplete information and the need to make a decision right now--and today, as you probably have surmised, I'm second-guessing that decision.
Here's the situation. This weekend--specifically Friday and Saturday--is my 25th class reunion at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, which is about 50 miles east of Washington D.C, right on the Chesapeake Bay. I have been planning on going to the reunion for quite some time, and early this summer I registered (and paid) for all the big events (Friday night dinner/dance, Saturday tailgater and football game--GO NAVY!), and made reservations to take my whole family, leaving Denver today (Thursday, September 18) and returning Monday.
To keep costs down, I used frequent flyer miles for the plane tickets for my wife and two kids, and--as we always do when visiting the D.C. area--we were going to stay with one of my wife's sisters in Northern Virginia. Still, I've shelled-out about $1,000 for my plane ticket and the many reunion events I signed up for.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Isabel picked this week to come storming across the Atlantic Ocean and smack into the outer banks of North Carolina (where it is hitting hard as I write this). Over the next couple of days, it is projected to slide
