Ahh, truth!

The holy grail of life. In practically everything that we do, we seek the truth. This has been the case since man evolved from monkeys and first developed a unique (as far as we know) ability to think and reason hundreds of thousands of years ago, and it is still true today.

It is also the case with knowledge management. When we're looking for knowledge we're looking for the truth, right? We don't want lies, distortions, fabrications, etc. We want the truth, and nothing but the truth (although sometimes it is helpful to know what the opposite side of the coin looks like--that is, what is believed to be untrue).

But what, exactly, is the truth? In truth it can vary considerably depending on your perspective, your viewpoint. Take for example the United States' problems in the Middle East. We're over in Iraq believing, truthfully, that we've liberated a country of some 20 million people from decades of tyranny and oppression, and that we've rid the world of an evil menace of a man who had no problem using weapons of mass destruction on innocent civilians if he thought he could get away with it.
