Recognize this? You are working as a project manager in a large organization. It seems as if everybody is a stakeholder in your project. They all want to be informed about the project's progress. You are asking yourself: How on earth am I going to do that? Where do I find the time?

 

The answer is as simple as effective: make your own e-mail project newsletter!

 

The newsletter concept is a fairly common used concept for commercial purposes. Now consider using it for your project. It has the advantage of informing everybody in the organization in a fairly simple, cost-effective and consistent way. This article gives you some tips and tricks in setting up your own newsletter.

 

Before you start typing messages, think of the audience. Is the newsletter solely intended for your team members or is a greater audience desirable (it usually is)? With the greater audience, politics arise. Composing your mailing list is an interesting exercise in relationships because of political structures in your company.

 

Also remember when sending out an e-mail that messages tend to get a life of their own throughout the company. Interesting mails are often forwarded and before you know it, your message lies on the doorstep of the CEO. If that is what you want, okay, but usually it is better to play it safe.
