Discerning E-learning
Extroverts are naturally gifted with the ability to stimulate interest, conversation…and focus an audience when in a traditional face-to-face setting. Give them strong knowledge of the workings of a product and mix it with great communication skills and you have the core of what makes great trainers. Take heart though introvert--while it may feel like that professional door is closed to you, the realm of e-learning is a place where you can tread that your extroverted counterparts may not fare as well.
Do your company’s product trainers distribute course evaluations as a standard procedure? If not, you should have other similar measures in place to determine their effectiveness. While it has been found that teacher and trainer evaluations filled out by students often favor moderators who are perceived as more entertaining, there is little of what is communicated in an everyday classroom that can be brought forward effectively into an online environment.
It has also been widely reported that those popular instructors who are approached to bring their curriculum into an e-learning format often cannot make the transition and become highly frustrated, not only with themselves but with others who have been contracted to collaborate with them to create the new material.
