Quality is something that differentiates products and services. The notion of better, which is a relative term, plays a significant part in the success of products, hence manufacturers and service providers try to produce higher quality products and services.

However, the concept of quality in the manufacturing world has evolved over time. The first concept is the “fitness to standard” or the “conformance to the specifications”, where the quality is checked by comparison between the output and the specifications.

Not only does the product perform as expected, but it is also produced at low or reasonable cost. The fourth one uses the “fitness to latent requirement” or the “conformance to the unexpected needs” test. Here the quality is in the eye of the users or customers and low cost.
