Meet the Resource Management Model (Part 2)
The last article on resource management introduced the resource management model concept and its application to project, program and portfolio management. Once project managers understand the benefits of a resource management model, the next step is to construct the model. The following steps will provide you with a tool to build a resource management model.
However, keep in mind the change management required to implement the model across a project, program or portfolio. Building and maintaining the model isn’t difficult, but the data is only as relevant as the project teams contributing to the model.
This tutorial is geared to novice MS-Project users and uses a single MS-Project file to generate the resource management model. Advanced MS-Project users can modify this approach using MS-Project’s Share Resource function. The basic model can be constructed using the following six steps.
