Don’t think about gas prices for a minute. Don’t think about the cost of airfare now that fuel has gone up.
 
Instead, try thinking about optimizing your budget, responding quickly to industry and product changes, and increasing your associates’ productivity. Use this mindset when debating about how you can reduce expenses--not only for your travelling trainers and their programs, but for your employee students and those of your clients that otherwise need to go offsite to faraway places.
 
According to a study at Forrester Research that encompassed domestic North American travel, “travel for internal meetings and training averages $1,200 to $1,500”. This does not even take into account the obligatory downtime that occurs during travel and other non-training times.
 
Some go the route of creating online coursework, but for many the immediate need for training that can be easily managed both logistically and financially is better handled through Web conferencing--more specifically by webinar.
 
Set up for local or distant populations, webinars can be easily accessed without leaving your desk as opposed to going to some training room or facility.
