Engaged in Telecommuting
For those of us that have the ability to work remotely either on the road, at a designated office space or even from the comfort of our living rooms, there are numerous pressures to project a professional and attentive work presence. Although it has been said that telecommuting employees work longer hours, have more work focus/less distractions and are more productive, there are still a number of vital issues that need to be overseen in order to keep a distant staff motivated.
Although full-time telecommuters have more of a burden to keep their work flowing and make themselves active within an organization so they are both well-informed and integrated within its operation, a very active effort needs to be extended by management so as to support and nurture their work endeavors. Often stationed back at the office, bosses that govern remote workers have, in addition to their normal responsibilities, a vested interest in cultivating these employees and encouraging their performance.
Not just people who hold down the fort, these managers have to take on the additional roles of neighbor, confidant, negotiator and liaison in order to engage their workforce for the good of the enterprise.
