Despite an expanding scope, a contrained timeframe and a throng of meticulous stakeholders, the elaborate renovation to the David H. Koch Theater in New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts was completed to glowing reviews, on time and under budget. From prelude to finale, this extraordinary project had its share of plot twists and turns.

 
When the New York City Opera and New York City Ballet alight on the stage of the David H. Koch Theater, their stirring artistic performances are enhanced through the strong acts of an entirely different set of players — the project management team who completed a $107 million renovation to the theater in October 2009.
 
New York-based Landair Project Resources Inc. pulled together a panoply of consultants, designers, architects and contractors to modernize in 19 months the historic venue formerly known as the New York State Theater. “We thrive on complexity,” says Leith ter Meulen, CEO and president of Landair. “We are not building out office space. We are seeking opportunities that are challenging and complicated and that involve a lot of uncertainties. We are comfortable with deadlines.”
