Project Management Institute’s Board of Directors has named executive vice president and COO Mark Langley as its new president and CEO, succeeding Gregory Balestrero who is retiring January 1, 2011.

Project Management Institute, the world’s largest project management member association, has announced that its Board of Directors has named Mark A. Langley as its new president and CEO upon Gregory Balestrero’s retirement from PMI on January 1, 2011. Langley has been executive vice president and chief operating officer for PMI since 2002.

 

“The Board chose Mark Langley for his keen strategic insights regarding building member and organization value, formulating and leading operational vision, strategy and direction, and for his energy and passion for project management,” said Eugene Bounds, PMP, chair of PMI’s Board of Directors. “He will build on the Board’s overall strategic direction and provide executive leadership to advance PMI as the largest and most influential project management association.”

 

Langley joined PMI as director of finance and administration and was promoted in the same year to executive vice president and COO.
