Okay, so maybe that was a bit much. A little over the top, particularly when I am referring to the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. My sales pitch may be been dramatic, but the reality is that there is gold in them thar PMP hills--with more benefits to be had.

Over the last eight years, I have taught a PMP Prep course. In that time, I have had countless conversations with numerous course participants--calming their fears and alleviating their frustrations as they prepared to write the exam, and then celebrating with them after they wrote the exam and attained their goal. In those conversations, participants identified three primary benefits they experienced as a result of getting their PMP.

Job Opportunities
The first benefit they would talk about were the job opportunities that presented themselves after they got their PMP.
