Making Resolutions that Last

Another new year! It’s true what they say: As you get older, time does start going more quickly (and based on the speed that 2012 flew by, I must be getting really old!). But now it’s 2013, another chance to start afresh, a chance to look back on the year that was and commit to improve in the year ahead. I always try to find a few areas that I felt I could have handled better last year and focus on them in the next year to make sure that I address some of my shortcomings.

However, they are like so many other resolutions--you start off with the best of intentions, but by the time we get a few weeks into the year the hustle and bustle of daily life gets in the way. Even with the best of intentions, the resolutions can fall by the wayside. In this article, I want to share a few ideas that I have put into place to try and prevent that from happening. It’s important to me that I actually improve in those areas where I feel that I need to do better--if I don’t, then I am letting myself and my teams down (and subconsciously I’m sending a message that it’s acceptable to perform at something other than your best).
