My last article focused on making the commitment to stop procrastinating. I acknowledged that making that first step was like finally having that “Oh no!” moment when you look in the mirror and say, “This can’t continue.” Exercise is easy to put off, and so is making the commitment to getting your PMP. If you read the last article and you moved past making a commitment, you have hopefully now completed the application. In fact, if you stopped thinking and actually acted, you would have received your response from PMI. (If you haven’t, stop reading this article and get started!) For those on board, it’s time to get serious about getting in “PMP shape”.

Since my focus is on not delaying the process of getting certified and not using the transition to the 5th Edition PMBOK as a way to delay getting certified, my articles will focus on PMBOK’s Fourth Edition until July. Besides, even if life gets in the way of writing the exam before July, it’s not like your winter preparations will be wasted (I won’t use this forum to debate the usefulness of the new standard). After July, I’ll point out the little differences you will need to focus on for the 5th edition. So grab that 4th edition and let’s go find the easy marks...
