What Everything in Your Project Depends On
Any construction project starts off with a foundation--it’s what keeps the building standing for years to come. The foundation keeps a road from buckling under the traffic; it’s the lowest part of a structure and keeps it from falling down. There are different types of foundations that can be used depending on what kind of structure is being built. No matter what type of foundation it is, though, anyone who steps inside the structure is depending upon that foundation to be strong year after year.
In executing a project, it is up to the project manager and the stakeholders to make sure there is a solid foundation under the project team so that they can be successful in their work. Whether or not they are aware of it, everything they do during the project is depending on the foundation to be strong. The project might last two months or two years, but the foundation must be appropriate and sound in order for the project to not fall down around the project managers’ ears.
Blueprint
Before anything is done at a building site, the blueprint must be decided upon. The blueprint is the overall scope of the project. It may not go into details like doorknobs or paint color, but it does describe the building that will be built on top of the foundation.
