Business Too Intelligent?
If I told you that a firm was working on a way in which you don’t have to turn a key to start your car, you’d believe me, right? Suppose I told you that instead of a key, the car would start as soon as your rear end hit the driver’s seat? You’re probably still with me. But now suppose that I told you that the only way that the car will start is if it recognizes your posterior as the one connected with the person allowed to drive the car? At this point, I suspect you would either be frowning in disbelief, widening your eyes and acknowledging the possibility, or both.
No, it’s not part of some science fiction comedy or anything--it’s an actual working concept created by the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology. Say what you will about a device that basically scans your gluteus maximus with 360 sensors and creates a topographic map with the information, but in limited tests it has proven it can spot the correct driver 98 percent of the time. It may not be a fingerprint (more like a “butt print”), yet it functions in the same manner--providing a level of security that might prove to be a new form of deterrent that is appropriate for the product it is designed to protect.
