Preparing for the Exam with PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition (Part 1)
Getting ready to write the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) exam is like trying to get in shape. At least that’s what my previous series of articles stated that took a journey through each chapter of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)—Fourth Edition. I explained there are good days when one can feel as if they can run (study) all day. There will also be days when the thought of lifting weights (PMBOK Guide) is about as appealing as a root canal. The general theme was to maintain a comfortable pace and, knowing there will be good and bad study days, never give up. Ultimately, the goal of being in better shape (a successful exam completion) is inevitable with continued effort.
There are plenty of sources that will capture what’s new in PMBOK Guide—Fifth Edition. These are useful articles to those trying to understand what they need to revisit if they had done some preparations based on the fourth edition. Given that the exam conversion to the new PMBOK Guide was in August 2013, realistically, any preparations done using the previous PMBOK Guide are now mostly lost to cold storage.
