Adopting Agility in Practice
Our agile story...
When I wrote this article, my intention was to provide readers with a glance at my organization’s experience with agility. My organization is a software company and thus concerned with delivering working software to its customers without any delay. After conducting many projects, we started to identify the weak points in our traditional approaches to the management of software production, which mainly relies on the waterfall sequential interaction with project events. During our continual search for new management procedures, we discovered agile, the latest project management methodology being applied to develop information technology systems. Actually, we applied agile principles with Project Management Institute (PMI) concepts and realized that, in certain aspects the two were at odds but were in parallel with other aspects.

Over the past 16 years, large enterprises with complex projects have been adopting agile, and this methodology is now considered the preferred approach for managing software development over all other approaches. This fact encouraged us to seriously view agile as the savior management alternative.
