Application of Lean Thinking to IT Services

In this article, I describe projects of optimization in services for my company; my company works mainly in IT services. I thought about this study when I realized that there is not much literature about lean thinking in IT services. I think this is because, when we talk about lean thinking, we often imagine the industrial world. There is also a second reason: the nature of the services makes it difficult to know what to change and how to fix it. The big challenge is to make visible the work and work to improve the processes. You must be conscious of the enormous help that lean thinking can provide to improve services and, in particular, in the IT world.

Lean  thinking is a highly evolved method used to manage an organization in order to improve the productivity, efficiency, and quality of its products and services. Japanese and American management specialists developed the ideas and methods in the latter half of the last century. These management techniques were first employed in the manufacturing sector, in particular in the Toyota Company.

The term “lean” was first coined in 1988 by John Krafcik in his article, “Triumph of the Lean Production System,” based on his master thesis at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
