The challenge
Project management planning is one of the critical components of managing projects and happens to be the first line of defense against project failures. Project management planning constitutes approaches or methods to be adopted in managing various components of the project, such as scope, cost, time, and quality. One of the key challenges in initial planning is choosing the appropriate methods or techniques that are effective to deliver on project objectives within the context of unique project characteristics.
The choice of an ineffective method due to lack of attention to planning can impact a project negatively, whereas an appropriate choice of methods can ease project execution. Often the choice of methods adopted is limited by factors such as the project manager’s past experience, awareness, or insight into a project-specific context.
