Laying out a schedule for a project is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to managing projects successfully. Baseline
The first step is to establish a firm baseline schedule. Without the baseline, there is no line in the sand or sense of urgency for the project. The baseline shows when the project team plans to finish their work. The baseline should not be created in a vacuum, but include input from the project team who will actually be doing the work.
