Testing Issues and Opportunities
The world is changing--and by all accounts, at a rate that is unprecedented. This necessitates organizations respond to and adapt at breakneck speeds--or risk becoming obsolete (or aggressively pushed aside).
That is the harsh reality of the highly competitive business environment we are currently experiencing. What is interesting is this challenging environment is highly likely to get much worse as we move further into a period of dramatic change driven by multiple technologies maturing in the same time period.
All of this adds up to one thing--and that is a great challenge. As we change and adapt, we must test all of those changes to help ensure they work properly, work as designed, meet the organization’s needs and are secure.
Whether you are updating a business plan, business process or information system, an appropriate level of testing is required. The level of testing is often dictated by the degree of modification, plus magnitude of change of the update and the level of risk the organization finds acceptable. Testing helps to reduce the risks that are associated with change, and that is the way it should be viewed.
Testing has been seen as an unavoidable evil. Perhaps a change of mindset is overdue! Today, testing is becoming a necessity given all that is at stake. Many times, short-cutting the testing efforts result in the failure to detect issues
