Five Strategies for Maintaining Project Team Alignment with Project Scope
Determining the success of a project depends on many moving parts. PMI provides project management practitioners with a methodology that helps ensure project success by applying the 10 knowledge areas across the five processes that help maintain alignment of ITTO (Inputs, Tools & Techniques, Outputs) with the project scope until completion. This increases the probability that stakeholders will approve the project deliverables during the validation process.
In my experience as an IT operational manager, one of the knowledge areas that tends to require more involvement from the project manager in order to maintain alignment with project scope through the life of the project is project human resource management. The following five strategies are focused in this area, with the goal of providing you with a best-practice approach to help manage project team conflict and drive results-oriented solutions that help maintain alignment with the project scope.
1. Align deliverables with strategic business objectives. Integrate the client vision and strategy into the project work by monitoring the project team’s contributions and providing continuous feedback to the group/individual through the progression of tasks resulting in deliverables.
