Pre-Cast Concrete Yards: Safety and Health Management
Pre-cast concrete has been an excellent and efficient choice in many projects for its schedule readiness, fireproofing, aesthetic flexibility, durability, high quality and environmental friendliness. Pre-cast concrete is a versatile design material used for everything from bridges and parking structures to structural design and cladding. Offsite construction of its components makes pre-cast concrete an excellent choice for projects, especially those running on a tight schedule (which is usually the case nowadays).
During the execution of the four major pre-casting operations (which involves casting, finishing, storage and transportation of the pre-cast elements to site), care should be taken with regards to every possible safety and health hazard that is expected to occur. The tendency of hazard occurrence at pre-cast yards is relatively high since the work area is limited, the manpower is relatively large and most of the time, all four operations will be running in parallel. Health and safety management is a core part of any project management and contributes significantly toward the success of any project.
