The project manager field has change built into it. You are always moving from one phase of a project to a different one, or changing projects entirely. Even when you get on a long-range project, you are constantly thinking about where the next project will come from.

While many of the projects you work on may be in the same industry or similar in nature, you could try to jump into something new on a regular basis. Something “new” could mean a different role on a project, a brand new industry or it could even mean a new job at a new company. The future is wide open.

Working Outside Your Comfort Zone
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get outside your comfort zone. Whether you have been leading projects for 20 years or two months, you can find some way to get outside of the rut of day-to-day work. You might spend some time learning to code something or testing a new application that your team is working on. There are lots of opportunities out there if you take the time to look for them. One of the best ways to get out of your comfort zone is to identify weaknesses in your skillset and then look for some way to exploit and overcome those weaknesses.
