In accordance with survey findings (Forrester Consulting’s “The State of Modern Product Delivery”) among senior business and IT professionals at large companies (more than 57% of respondents work for companies with 20,000 employees and more, while 61% of respondents work for companies with at least $5 billion in annual revenue), most of them release products quarterly or more, while a third of the companies release products late.

Companies are releasing products more quickly than ever before, yet unclear or changing requirements are causing late delivery. Furthermore, half of the respondents said that when a release is late, it takes up to 150% of its original expected timeline. Most organizations are still stuck in the old way of doing things because businesses aren’t ready for agile (9%), their teams aren’t ready (38%) or their software financing isn't ready (12%).

There is probably some misunderstanding as to what “agile” is in some companies. The statement “if a company doesn’t use agile, that is bad” is not true. The main problem is when a company uses agile in the wrong way. For example, one company says that it works on agile technology, but it still focuses on tasks and doesn’t embrace change and confine communications.
