Living, Breathing Project Management
It’s no surprise that skilled professions often (and perhaps more increasingly) use projects. In most professions, it may be safe to say that some form of project management is needed, whether formally or informally identified as a requirement.
As project professionals and members of PMI, we also understand that the application of project principles will vary by nature of the project in question and its requirements. When it comes to organizational mission or individual goal orientation, project management enhances the ability to most adequately get the job done.
This article aims to embrace project management as a necessary skill regardless of profession. Its focus is to paint a picture of the profession as a foundation for being able to successfully oversee disparate parts of a whole regardless of environment, managing the components in a way that creates value.
The Project Management Mindset: Larger Than Methodology
For over 20 years of my life, I have been a violinist, having performed with popular ensembles and having worked with some of the best instructors in classical music throughout my education. In fact, I had actively been involved in project management without truly realizing it when I was organizing ensembles and managing budgets for special events requiring live chamber group performances.
