Announcing PMI's Chapter Military Veterans Program: Preparing the U.S. Military for Project Management Careers

Great news for PMI chapters desiring to better serve military personnel and veterans! In July of 2016, local Project Management Institute (PMI) chapters are receiving materials to assist military service members and veterans in their personal transition to commercial project management. After a tremendous effort by numerous leaders and staffers within the organization, PMI has formally announced a new program: "Preparing the U.S. Military for Project Management Careers." By aligning with this program, chapters will grow their membership, certify new project management talent and increase their chapter’s visibility in the community and within the profession.

PMI recognizes that service members and veterans already perform project management as part of their military service, utilizing military methods and terminology. This new PMI program will enable local chapters to assist military personnel and veterans in the translation of their military experience into a rewarding civilian career, while enabling the civilian workforce with high-quality project professionals. Regardless of the service member’s military status, local PMI chapters now have tools to assist.
