Elevation Through Conflict?
Anticipate. Influence. Elevate.
These were the themes of PMI Global Congress 2016—North America. Words of contemplation listed on a wall, blasted on screens, without context. Until we started the program and it all became clear.
Anticipate
What can we anticipate, and how do we do so?
The first day, it seemed that all of the talks revolved around lessons learned. Designed for us to review and learn from others before we move forward with new challenges—from mistakes made, from project successes and from the experiences of our peers...
In Rocks in the River, the key takeaways I had from the first day are summarized. Some of these ideas were not new, but they came together in new ways—because I remained open to fresh perspectives, different applications. Perhaps you also have some thoughts on the topics as well, and can add to the story.
We should always ask for opinions and listen to understand, to provoke reflection and generate insights. This may add value when other approaches complement your own, filling gaps in your processes, but is much more beneficial when concepts collide—innovations, and significant strides, may be made when this occurs.
I encourage all to look for stories that might shine a new light on current challenges.
