PMI's annual PMO Symposium® never ceases to please with an impressive collection of keynote speakers, local excursions, targeted workshops and cutting-edge presentations. This year was no different. The 2016 PMO Symposium focused on benefits realization, coinciding with PMI's annual update to its Thought Leadership Series on the same topic.

The event was held at the historic Hotel del Coronado, which gave the Symposium an intimate, resort-like feeling. The location made all of the networking functions pretty fantastic, including several evenings on the beach or the lawn directly off the beach. San Diego weather proved to be perfect, enhancing the twilight events with ideal temperatures and clear skies. Sunrise activities, like yoga on the beach, were incredibly popular with attendees.

As a speaker, I helped to start off the Symposium with an interactive session in the Knowledge Hub entitled "Responding to the Changing Organizational Environment - The Evolving PMO." The Knowledge Hubs debuted at last year's PMO Symposium, but this year it was ramped up to have a smart board, a recording assistant and headsets with a big blue foam box containing a microphone.
