How Professionally Resilient Are You?
How professionally resilient are we as program and project managers? That is a very interesting question. An increasing number of professionals are coming to believe that given the current high levels of disruption, we should rethink the required adaptation throughout our professional careers.
If you examine the fundamental requirement of resilience, it is the ability to rapidly recover from difficulties. That sure fits many of us professionally as we continue to be challenged. We are being asked to do more with less, with new and untried technology, and in a shorter period of time for less overall costs.
Add to all of that the fact that operating in near-real time makes resilience an even bigger challenge for professionals and organizations. However, it does not stop there. How resilient are the organizations we work for—and those we work with?
Insight: In the event of career disruption, we must rapidly discover creative and relevant ways to apply current skills, knowledge and experience that go far beyond merely getting another job. That is professional resilience!
