Be Ready for Digitization of Project Management

Look around. You are managing more projects than ever where processes are being digitized in the workplace in some way. Digitization may be the focus or just part of the picture in your project and those efforts around you. That should indicate to you a workplace trend.  

Such a trend forces a question: Are you preparing for the digitization of the project management process itself?  

Your success in the future will depend on your ability to adapt to and utilize any digitized step, process, application upgrade, and so on. And then you have to think about your team. Your successful facilitation of your team's adaptation to digitization will also be a measure of your success.  

One obstacle to being successful in this endeavor is that you work project to project. You have to manage the current project, so any preparation or adjustments you undertake must be during the project, "on the fly." If you follow these four steps, you can stay on top of required changes.

  1. As part of project initialization, determine what new or upgraded tools are required to be used by you or your team. Consider time tracking, financial management, task management, status reporting,
